This Week in Points & Miles: September 8–12
Four deadlines on this page land inside the next ten days, and the Wyndham one is Monday. The rest of the week ran in two directions at once. Amex and Chase pushed welcome offers to record numbers while Wyndham, Navy Federal and Air Canada each took something back.

Which card offers went up this week?
American Express refreshed all four Hilton Honors cards on September 10, 2026, and the new offers run through January 13, 2027. The Hilton Honors Aspire pays 200,000 points after $6,000 of spend on a $550 annual fee, the highest number Amex has ever put on that card. The Hilton Honors Surpass pays 130,000 points plus a Free Night Reward after $3,000 on a $150 fee.
The Surpass is the better offer for most people. Hilton places no points cap on the Free Night Reward, so a single night at a property pricing above 120,000 points closes most of the gap, and the spending requirement is half the size. Chase relaunched the Air Canada Aeroplan card on September 10 at up to 115,000 points, split into 75,000 after $4,000 in three months and 40,000 after $20,000 in twelve. Take the first tier and stop, since $20,000 of extra spend for 40,000 points is a poor rate. We ran the numbers on what the $195 Aeroplan card is worth now (Doctor of Credit).
Navy Federal launched the Flagship Premier Visa Signature on September 10 with 50,000 points after $4,000 in 90 days, 4x on travel, 3x on dining, a $100 airline credit and up to $120 for Global Entry, on a $95 annual fee. Capital One added a $300 Capital One Travel stays credit to the Venture Rewards welcome offer, on top of 75,000 miles after $4,000 of spend, with the annual fee still $95. The credit covers hotels and vacation rentals only, and it does not renew. Our math on the Venture at 75,000 miles plus $300 (Frequent Miler).
The Marriott Bonvoy Business Amex is at 100,000 points plus a Free Night Certificate worth up to 50,000 points (Doctor of Credit).
All three Chase Avios cards still sit at 90,000 Avios after $5,000 of spend on targeted links, 15,000 above the public number. Where to find them: the 90,000-Avios offers and the right link.
One benefit moved the other way. The Chase Sapphire Reserve DoorDash credit triples to $15 a month on October 1 and drops the restaurant-only rule, which lifts annual DoorDash value to $516. Details on the DoorDash credit change.
What got worse this week?
Wyndham Rewards adds a fourth award tier on September 15, 2026, at 45,000 points per bedroom per night. That sits 50% above the current 30,000-point ceiling. The entry tier drops from 7,500 points to 5,000, and Wyndham has not published how many hotels move up versus down. Wyndham says, "Bookings made with points prior to September 15 will be honored at the current rate," and the program refunds the difference automatically if a property you booked drops a tier.

American Airlines and Hyatt ended their loyalty partnership on September 9. Link both accounts by 11:59:59 p.m. CT on November 15, 2026 to keep earning, and linked AAdvantage members earn through February 28, 2027. Navy Federal is adding a $95 annual fee to the existing Flagship Rewards card, up from $49, and removing the Amazon Prime credit (Doctor of Credit).
The refreshed Aeroplan card drops dining and groceries from 3x to 2x. Two perks end December 31, 2026: the 10% Ultimate Rewards transfer bonus and the 500 points per $2,000 of monthly spend (AwardWallet).
Wells Fargo stops point transfers between cardholders on September 25, 2026, which removes a gifting feature no other major bank program still offers (AwardWallet).
