American Express launched new welcome offers across all four Hilton Honors cards on September 10, 2026. The Aspire card is offering 200,000 bonus points after $6,000 of spend in six months, a record for the card. Three of the four cards pair a smaller points bonus with a Free Night Reward, and those combinations are worth more than the headline number.

Every offer runs through January 13, 2027.

The short version

  • Aspire: 200,000 points after $6,000 in six months. Annual fee $550.
  • Surpass: 130,000 points plus a Free Night Reward after $3,000. Annual fee $150.
  • No-fee Hilton Honors card: 70,000 points plus a Free Night Reward after $2,000.
  • Business card: 150,000 points plus a Free Night Reward after $8,000. Annual fee $195.
  • Apply between September 10, 2026 and January 13, 2027.

Why is the Surpass offer better than the bigger number?

The Hilton Honors American Express Surpass Card offers 130,000 bonus points plus a Free Night Reward after $3,000 of spend in six months, for a $150 annual fee. Value Hilton points at a conservative 0.4 cents and that bonus is worth about $520. The Aspire’s 200,000 points come to roughly $800 at the same rate.

The gap is $280. A Free Night Reward used at a property that would otherwise cost 100,000 points or more closes that gap and keeps going. Add the spending requirement, $3,000 against $6,000, and the Surpass is easier to earn and cheaper to hold.

What is a Free Night Reward worth in practice?

Hilton’s Free Night Reward covers “one standard accommodation at participating properties in the Hilton portfolio,” per Hilton’s own terms. The important word is participating. Unlike Marriott and IHG, Hilton attaches no points cap to the certificate, so a 150,000-point Waldorf Astoria night and a 30,000-point Hampton Inn night both qualify at the same cost to you, which is zero.

Spend it at the Hampton Inn and you burned a $120 certificate. Spend it at the Waldorf and you saved $600 or more. Hilton publishes a list of excluded properties, which is worth checking before you build a trip around one. Each certificate expires one year after it is issued.

Which card makes sense at each annual fee?

The four Hilton Honors American Express cards sit at four price points: $0, $150 for the Surpass, $195 for the Business card and $550 for the Aspire. The no-fee card pays 70,000 points plus a Free Night Reward after $2,000 of spend, which is a strong return for a card that costs nothing to keep in a drawer.

The Business card carries the best raw value at 150,000 points plus a certificate, but it asks for $8,000 of spend in six months. That is a real hurdle unless you have business expenses already lined up. The Aspire justifies its $550 fee through resort credits, airline credits and an annual Free Night Reward, not through the welcome offer alone.

Will Amex approve you?

American Express applies its once-per-lifetime rule to Hilton Honors card bonuses, and it covers renamed predecessors. The Surpass terms state: “You may not be eligible to receive a welcome offer if you have or have had this Card, the Hilton Honors Amex Ascend Card or previous versions of these Cards.”

Check your history before you apply. Amex will approve the card and then decline to pay the bonus, which is the worst possible outcome. If you have never held a Hilton card, you have four separate bonuses available over time, since the lifetime rule is per card, not per family.

What this means for you

If you want the most points for the least effort, take the Surpass. If you already hold the Surpass and have business spending, the Business card offer is the highest total value on the board. The Aspire is a keeper card, so decide on it based on whether you will use the resort and airline credits every year, not on the 200,000 points.

None of these are worth a stay you would not otherwise book. For how Hilton points stack up against transferable currencies, see our points and miles valuation guide, and our best travel credit cards guide for where hotel cards fit next to flexible ones.

FAQ

When do the new Hilton Amex offers expire?

The new Hilton Honors American Express welcome offers are available to applicants who apply between September 10, 2026 and January 13, 2027. Amex has pulled limited-time offers early before, so treat the January date as a ceiling.

Is 200,000 points the best Aspire offer ever?

It is the best points offer the Hilton Honors American Express Aspire Card has carried. Public offers spent the past two years between 150,000 and 175,000 points. Whether it is the best overall offer depends on how you value the Free Night Rewards attached to the other cards.

Can I hold more than one Hilton Amex card?

Yes. American Express treats each Hilton Honors card as a separate product for bonus eligibility, so holding the Surpass does not block you from the Aspire or the Business card. Standard Amex application limits still apply.

Does the Free Night Reward work at any Hilton?

It works at participating properties, with a published exclusion list covering some resorts and all-inclusive brands. Hilton places no points cap on the certificate, so top-tier properties are in play when they participate.

How long do I have to use a Free Night Reward?

One year from the date Hilton issues it. Book a stay before the expiry date rather than sitting on it, because high-value properties get scarce in peak season.
