The Citi / AAdvantage Business World Elite Mastercard is offering 75,000 American Airlines miles after you or your employees spend $5,000 within 5 months of opening the account. The annual fee is $0 the first year, then $99, and both Citi and American call it a limited-time offer without giving an end date. We value the bonus at $750 to $1,125, before the miles you earn on the spending itself.

The Points Guy says the offer matches the highest it has seen on this card, so it ties the record rather than beating it. In early October the same card showed 65,000 miles after $4,000 in 4 months, as we noted in our AAdvantage Business enrollment post.

The deal

  • Offer: 75,000 AAdvantage bonus miles after $5,000 in purchases within the first 5 months, per American’s card page.
  • Annual fee: $0 intro annual fee for the first year, then $99. The fee rises to $150 on January 24, 2027 (more on that below).
  • Dates: live now, labelled a limited-time offer with no end date on either the American or the Citi product page.
  • Earning: 2 miles per $1 on eligible American Airlines purchases, gas stations, car rentals, telecom and cable or satellite providers, and 1 mile per $1 on everything else.
  • Card type: a business credit card, so you apply as a business owner.

Key terms

  • The spending rule: American’s card page says, “Bonus miles earned after you or your employees spend $5,000 in purchases within the first 5 months of account opening.” Employee card purchases count.
  • 48-month rule: the same page bars anyone who got this card’s bonus, or the CitiBusiness / AAdvantage Platinum Select bonus, in the past 48 months. A personal Platinum Select bonus isn’t on that list.
  • Where the miles go: Citi’s product page FAQ says bonus miles post to the company’s AAdvantage Business account, which Citi creates on approval if the business doesn’t have one.
  • Using those miles: American normally locks business account miles until a company hits 5 active travelers and $5,000 of travel in a year, but cardmembers skip this rule. The business can then move miles free to registered travelers, as our AAdvantage Business explainer covers.
  • Fee change: American’s newsroom release sets the fee at $150 from January 24, 2027. The card also adds up to $100 a year back on inflight purchases and a Global Entry or TSA PreCheck credit of up to $120 every four years.
  • Other perks today: your first checked bag flies free on domestic American itineraries, for you and up to 4 companions. You also get preferred boarding, 25% off inflight purchases and a $99 Companion Certificate after $30,000 in yearly spending.

What the fee change does to the math

If you’re approved this month, the first 12 months cost nothing. Your first renewal lands around November 2027, after the January 24 change, so year two costs $150 instead of the $99 the card page shows today. Our post on the 2027 refresh covers every new benefit.

Year two, from the first renewal Uses the new credits Uses neither credit
Annual fee $150 $150
Inflight credit -$100 $0
Global Entry credit, per year -$30 $0
Net cost $20 $150

The Global Entry line spreads $120 over four years ($120 divided by 4 is $30). If you spend at least $100 a year on Wi-Fi or snacks on American flights, year two costs about $20. Otherwise you’re paying $150 for a free bag and preferred boarding, and we’d cancel or downgrade before the renewal.

Qatar Qsuite to Doha from 70,000 miles

Upgraded Points says American charges as little as 70,000 miles one way for Qatar Airways Qsuite business class between the U.S. and the Middle East or the Indian subcontinent. Qatar flies to Doha from cities such as New York, Dallas, Chicago and Miami, so the bonus covers one of those seats with 5,000 miles to spare.

The miles won’t post until you’ve spent the $5,000, so plan a trip several months out. seats.aero PRO searches a full year of American award space and sends alerts when a seat opens. Our seats.aero guide explains how to read the results.

Our take

We’d apply if you have a real business and $5,000 of costs coming in the next 5 months. That’s $1,000 a month, and the spending itself earns at least another 5,000 miles. Our points valuation guide puts airline miles at 1 to 1.5 cents each. That makes the 80,000 miles worth $800 to $1,200 (80,000 times 1 cent, and 80,000 times 1.5 cents), against a $0 first-year fee. The bonus alone is worth $750 to $1,125 (75,000 times 1 cent, and 75,000 times 1.5 cents).

Upgraded Points values the 75,000 miles at $1,050 (1.4 cents a mile), and The Points Guy at $1,088. Keep the card a second year without touching the credits, and the two-year value is still $650 to $1,050 ($800 minus $150, and $1,200 minus $150).

Skip it if you’d have to invent spending to hit $5,000, or if you earned this card’s bonus in the last 48 months. A Citi Strata Premier or Strata Elite already moves ThankYou points to American at 1:1. Even so, matching 75,000 miles at 1 mile per $1 would take $75,000 of ordinary spending. The personal Platinum Select shows 50,000 miles after $2,500 in 3 months on American’s card overview page, so the business card is the better American offer right now.

Business owners who add employee cards get a second reward. Through December 31, 2028, the primary cardholder earns 1 extra Loyalty Point per $1 authorized users spend, per our Loyalty Points post. If the card doesn’t fit, our best travel credit cards guide ranks the alternatives.

FAQ

What is the Citi AAdvantage Business card offer right now?

75,000 American Airlines miles after $5,000 in purchases within the first 5 months. The annual fee is $0 the first year, then $99.

When does the 75,000-mile offer end?

Neither Citi nor American lists an end date. Both pages call it a limited-time offer, and the card showed 65,000 miles in early October.

Is 75,000 miles the highest offer ever on this card?

It ties the record. The Points Guy says it matches the highest offer it has seen for the card.

Do the bonus miles go to my personal AAdvantage account?

No. Citi says new account bonus miles post to the company’s AAdvantage Business account. The business can then move them free to registered travelers.

How much will the annual fee be after the first year?

$150 at any renewal on or after January 24, 2027, so most people approved now pay $150 in year two.
