The Citi / AAdvantage Executive Mastercard annual fee went from $595 to $695 for new cardmembers on August 23, 2026. The same refresh added up to $500 a year in American Airlines Vacations statement credits, up to $100 a year on inflight and Admirals Club purchases, and complimentary Omni Hotels Champion status. A 125,000-mile welcome offer after $15,000 of spend in five months is live, the largest this card has run.
The short version
Annual fee: $595 to $695, effective August 23, 2026. Authorized users stay at $175 for up to three, then $175 each.
New: up to $500 a year on American Airlines Vacations, up to $100 a year on inflight and Admirals Club purchases.
Lyft credits rose from $10 to $15 a month, so up to $180 a year instead of $120.
Loyalty Point milestones added at 165,000 and 240,000, lifting the annual milestone cap from 20,000 to 40,000 bonus Loyalty Points.
Welcome offer: 125,000 AAdvantage miles after $15,000 in purchases in five months.
What did Citi change on August 23?
The Citi / AAdvantage Executive Mastercard is now branded a World Legend Mastercard rather than a World Elite Mastercard, and its annual fee is $695 for new cardmembers as of August 23, 2026. American's press release puts the headline value at "up to $2,300 in value, including Admirals Club membership and faster path to AAdvantage status." One benefit was cut. The Grubhub credit, worth up to $10 a month, is gone for accounts opened on or after August 23. Accounts opened before that date keep it through August 31, 2027.
Jargon check. A co-branded card is one an airline and a bank issue together, so American sets the perks and Citi handles the credit. When either side wants the economics to change, you get a refresh like this one.
Are the new credits worth $100 more a year?
The Citi / AAdvantage Executive Mastercard now carries up to $500 in annual statement credits for American Airlines Vacations packages, which is five times the size of the fee increase. American Airlines Vacations sells flight-and-hotel bundles, so the credit only reaches you if you book that way. The card also adds up to $100 a year on inflight purchases and eligible Admirals Club purchases, plus $180 a year in Lyft credits at $15 a month after three rides.
Our read: a credit you have to change your booking habits to collect is worth less than its printed number. If you already book packaged vacations, the refresh pays for itself several times over. If you book flights and hotels separately, which most points-and-miles readers do, the $500 line is decoration.
The two hotel and rental perks land the same way. Omni Select Guest Champion status is real status at roughly 50 properties across the U.S. and Canada, and the free night requires a paid stay of two or more consecutive nights booked directly with Omni. Avis President's Club normally takes 20 rentals or $6,000 of annual spending, and Citi hands it to primary cardmembers who enroll by August 31, 2028.
How much better is the 125,000-mile offer?
The Citi / AAdvantage Executive Mastercard is offering 125,000 AAdvantage miles after $15,000 in purchases within five months of account opening, the highest welcome offer in the card's history. That spending requirement works out to $3,000 a month for five straight months. Miss it and you get nothing.
Run your own number on what an AAdvantage mile is worth before you apply. Our points and miles valuation guide walks through how to set one honestly. If you land near 1.4 cents, 125,000 miles is roughly $1,750 against a $695 first-year fee. That math works. It stops working the moment you spend money you would not have spent anyway to reach $15,000.
For a smaller target, the AAdvantage Platinum Select at 80,000 miles after $3,500 asks for about a quarter of the spend.
Which earning changes matter?
The Citi / AAdvantage Executive Mastercard now earns 12X AAdvantage miles on AAdvantage Hotels and AAdvantage Cars bookings, up from 10X. It also added two Loyalty Point milestones. Cardmembers already earned 10,000 bonus Loyalty Points at 50,000 and 90,000 Loyalty Points, and the new thresholds sit at 165,000 and 240,000. The most anyone pulls from milestones in a qualification year rose from 20,000 to 40,000 bonus Loyalty Points.
Loyalty Points are American's status currency. You earn them mostly from card spending and flying, and they decide whether you finish the year at Gold, Platinum, Platinum Pro or Executive Platinum. The two new milestones only reach people already pushing past 165,000, which is Platinum Pro territory. Below that line, nothing about earning changed for you.
What this means for you
Strip out the welcome offer and one benefit holds this card up. Admirals Club membership, valued by American at up to $1,400 a year, with unlimited visits for the primary cardmember and up to two guests across more than 100 lounges. No other U.S. credit card includes full membership.
Treat the $695 as a lounge subscription with a credit card attached. Fly American four times a year and the lounge does not earn back the fee. Sit in an Admirals Club most weeks and it does, comfortably. Everything else is a reason to keep a card you already wanted, not a reason to open one.
