Since October 15, 2026, World of Hyatt members can send points to another member from their online account, with no PDF form and no email to Hyatt. Hyatt’s updated program terms cap each account at 525,000 points sent and 525,000 points received per calendar year. You can gift points up to six times a year, at most once per calendar month, and Hyatt’s terms list no fee.

What changed

  • Before: you downloaded Hyatt’s Point Combining Request Form, had both members sign it, and emailed it to combinepoints@hyatt.com. The form allowed one transfer or receipt every 30 days, and Frequent Miler says transfers usually posted in 48 to 72 hours.
  • Now: you start the transfer from Hyatt’s purchase and gift points page. Hyatt promised this in its February 25, 2026 award chart release, and the feature went live on October 15.
  • Annual limits: 525,000 points sent and 525,000 points received per calendar year.
  • Frequency: once per calendar month and six times per calendar year, for sending and for receiving.
  • Speed: One Mile at a Time reports most transfers post within 24 hours, often close to instantly. A transfer Hyatt pulls for review can take up to 10 business days.
  • Who it affects: couples and families who book from one World of Hyatt account, and anyone holding Hyatt points from Chase or Bilt transfers.

Key terms

These come from section VI, “Points Gifting,” in Appendix A of the World of Hyatt terms, effective October 15, 2026.

  • Minimum and increments: Hyatt’s terms say “Point-gifting requests require a minimum transfer of 1,000 points and are available in 500-point increments thereafter.”
  • Caps: 525,000 points sent and 525,000 points received per calendar year, per account.
  • Frequency: one gift sent and one gift received per calendar month, with six of each per calendar year.
  • Account age: both accounts must be active and open for at least 60 days before the request.
  • Points type: gifted points count as Bonus Points for the recipient, so they don’t help toward elite status.
  • No take-backs: once you submit the request, it’s final and the sender gives up all rights to the points.
  • Review: Hyatt can ask for more information and can decline or reverse a gift it suspects is fraud or a way around the limits.
  • Any member: the terms only require another “specifically designated Member,” with no family or household rule.
  • Fee: Hyatt’s terms list no fee, and One Mile at a Time reports the transfers are free.

How to send Hyatt points online

One Mile at a Time walks through the screens. The flow takes four steps.

  1. Sign in at world.hyatt.com and open your account overview, or go straight to the purchase and gift points page.
  2. Under “Gift points or eligible awards,” click the option to gift your points.
  3. Pick the amount with the slider, from 1,000 points up in 500-point steps.
  4. Enter the recipient’s first name, last name, email address and World of Hyatt number, then confirm.

Where the Chase and Bilt cuts come in

This change lands in a bad year for Hyatt transfers. Chase Sapphire Preferred and Ink Business Preferred cardholders have moved points to Hyatt at 4:3 since October 1, 2026. Chase’s June 2026 Sapphire Preferred announcement spells it out: 1,000 Chase points become 750 Hyatt points. Bilt Points drop to the same 4:3 rate on January 1, 2027, and Hyatt stays on Bilt’s transfer partner list at the lower ratio.

The Chase Sapphire Reserve still transfers at 1:1. So the Reserve holder’s Hyatt account is the one to fill first, then share from. Our Sapphire Reserve versus Preferred comparison covers when the higher fee pays for itself.

Bilt cardholders get a similar window. Transfer at 1:1 through December 31, 2026 into your own Hyatt account, then send points to whoever books the stay later. Our Bilt two-player strategy walks through pooling across partners. Only do this for a stay you plan to book, since Hyatt points never move back to Bilt or Chase.

How Hyatt compares with Choice

Choice Privileges launched free points sharing on October 1, 2026. Hyatt’s caps are higher in both directions, and each point is worth about twice as much.

Program Sent per year Received per year Fee Our value per point
World of Hyatt 525,000 points 525,000 points None in Hyatt’s terms about 1.6 cents
Choice Privileges 200,000 points 100,000 points Free for now about 0.75 cents

Our take

We like this change, with one catch. At about 1.6 cents per Hyatt point in our points valuations guide, the 525,000-point sending cap moves $8,400 of value a year (525,000 x $0.016). Few households come close to that, so most people will never hit the points cap.

The catch is the count. The old form allowed one transfer every 30 days, or up to 12 transfers a year. The online tool allows six gifts a year, so batch your transfers instead of topping up a few thousand points at a time. The limit runs by calendar month, so a gift on October 31 and another on November 1 are both allowed.

Here’s a worked example. Your partner holds 8,000 Hyatt points from work stays and you hold 10,000 points. Your partner sends 8,000 points and you reach 18,000 points, the top of the Category 1 to 4 price range in our Hyatt award price breakdown. Covering the same gap from a Sapphire Preferred at 4:3 would take 11,000 Chase points, since Chase transfers in 1,000-point blocks and 11,000 x 0.75 = 8,250 Hyatt points. At our 2.05-cent Chase valuation, sharing leaves about $226 of Chase points for a flight.

Plan for the 60-day rule too. If your partner has never joined World of Hyatt, open the account now, because it can’t send or receive points for 60 days.

Act on this if your household splits Hyatt points across two or more accounts, or if a Sapphire Reserve holder books for someone with only a Preferred. Skip it if you’re the only Hyatt member in your home and book from one balance. For other programs that pool points, see our transfer partners coverage and our hotel points coverage.
