Bilt Is Cutting Hyatt Transfers to 4:3 on January 1. You Have 92 Days.

Bilt Points transfer to World of Hyatt at 4:3 starting January 1, 2027, down from 1:1. Every Bilt card is affected, including Palladium, with no exemption for premium holders. The 1:1 rate stays live through December 31, 2026, which leaves 92 days to move points at today's value.

The short version

  • Bilt to World of Hyatt drops from 1:1 to 4:3 on January 1, 2027

  • 1,000 Bilt Points become 750 Hyatt points after the change, a 25% cut

  • Getting the same Hyatt award takes 33% more Bilt Points than it does today

  • Bilt Blue, Bilt Obsidian and Bilt Palladium are all affected, unlike Chase, where the Sapphire Reserve kept 1:1

  • The transfer minimum is 2,000 Bilt Points, and the old rate runs through December 31, 2026

What exactly is changing?

Bilt Rewards currently converts Bilt Points to World of Hyatt points one for one, which has been the single best use of the currency since the partnership launched. From January 1, 2027, four Bilt Points buy three Hyatt points. Bilt stated the change plainly: "The transfer ratio for World of Hyatt will change to 4:3 beginning January 1, 2027." No reason was given alongside the notice.

Run it against a real booking. A Hyatt Category 4 night at 15,000 points costs 15,000 Bilt Points today and 20,000 starting in January. A four-night Category 6 stay at 100,000 points goes from 100,000 Bilt Points to about 133,000. The headline says 25% less value, and the number you feel at booking is the 33% more points you have to hand over.

Does any Bilt card escape the cut?

No Bilt card escapes it. Bilt Blue, Bilt Obsidian and Bilt Palladium all move to 4:3 on January 1, 2027. That is the detail worth noticing, because Chase announced the same cut three months ago and carved out its premium product. On October 1, 2026 the Chase Sapphire Preferred and Ink Business Preferred dropped to 4:3 while the Sapphire Reserve kept 1:1, which we covered in our breakdown of the Chase cut.

Bilt charges $495 a year for Palladium and $395 for Obsidian. Paying a premium fee and taking the same transfer cut as a free-card holder is a harder sell than Chase's version, and it narrows the gap between Bilt's tiers at exactly the moment Bilt is trying to widen it.

Should you transfer Bilt Points to Hyatt now?

Transfer only against a booking you intend to make. World of Hyatt points do not expire as long as your account has qualifying activity every 24 months, so a speculative transfer is not reckless, but it is still a one-way door. Bilt Points sitting in your account stay flexible across airlines and hotels. Hyatt points sitting in your account work at Hyatt or nowhere.

The honest case for moving early is a trip you already know about. If you are booking a Hyatt stay between now and roughly mid-2027 and you have the Bilt Points for it, transferring before December 31 locks in the better rate. Hyatt award pricing has been climbing on its own, and we found that 43% of Category 8 nights now price at 55,000 points or more, up from 30% in May 2026. Two cuts in the same direction compound.

What if you do not have a trip planned?

Hold the points. Bilt Points keep their full value with every other transfer partner, and Bilt runs Rent Day transfer bonuses on the first of each month that have reached 100% and higher with some partners. A good bonus elsewhere beats a rushed Hyatt transfer for a stay you have not chosen. Our guide to transfer bonuses explains why finding award space first is the rule that saves people money.

What this means for you

Hyatt was the reason many people picked Bilt in the first place, and that reason is now 25% weaker. The card still earns on rent with no transaction fee, which nothing else does at scale, so this is a dent rather than a reason to close an account. Look at your next nine months of travel. A Hyatt stay in there means you should move the points in October or November and book it. Nothing on the calendar means you leave the points where they are and watch the Rent Day bonuses instead.

FAQ

When does the Bilt to Hyatt transfer change take effect?

Bilt Points transfer to World of Hyatt at 4:3 starting January 1, 2027. The 1:1 rate remains available for transfers completed through December 31, 2026.

How many Bilt Points will a 30,000-point Hyatt award cost?

A 30,000-point World of Hyatt award costs 30,000 Bilt Points today and 40,000 Bilt Points after January 1, 2027, because the 4:3 ratio means you need 33% more.

Does Bilt Palladium keep the 1:1 Hyatt rate?

No. The Bilt Palladium Card moves to 4:3 along with Bilt Obsidian and Bilt Blue. Bilt has not announced any card-level exemption from the change.

What is the minimum Bilt transfer to Hyatt?

The minimum transfer from Bilt Rewards to World of Hyatt is 2,000 Bilt Points. Transfers generally complete within a few minutes.

Did Chase make the same change?

Yes. Chase moved the Sapphire Preferred and Ink Business Preferred to 4:3 on October 1, 2026, while the Chase Sapphire Reserve and its business version kept 1:1 transfers to World of Hyatt.

The bottom line

Two of Hyatt's biggest point pipelines got narrower. Treat 1:1 Bilt transfers as a resource with an expiry date on it and spend them on a stay you have already chosen. Speculative transfers into a program that keeps raising prices leave people stranded in a currency they cannot spend.
