Bilt Palladium Review: Why I Think It Is the Most Valuable Credit Card on the Market

The Bilt Palladium Card is the most valuable all-around credit card on the market in 2026 for a traveler who pays rent or a mortgage. It costs $495 a year, earns 2X Bilt Points on everyday purchases and earns up to 1.25X on housing payments with no transaction fee.

This is my opinion, and the rest of this review shows the math behind it. If you decide to apply, here is my Bilt referral link. I earn a referral bonus from Bilt if you are approved, at no cost to you.

The short version

  • The Bilt Palladium Card charges $495 a year and returns $400 in Bilt Travel hotel credits plus $200 in Bilt Cash.

  • Everyday purchases earn 2X Bilt Points. Rent and mortgage payments earn up to 1.25X with no transaction fee.

  • Bilt Points transfer to 25 programs, including World of Hyatt, United MileagePlus, Atmos Rewards and Air Canada Aeroplan.

  • The welcome offer is 50,000 points and Gold status after $4,000 of non-housing purchases in 90 days, plus $300 in Bilt Cash at approval.

  • A couple pairing Palladium with the $95 Bilt Obsidian Card gets 2X everywhere and 3X on groceries or dining for $590 a year.

What are the three Bilt cards in 2026?

Bilt rebuilt its credit card lineup in 2026 and now sells three cards: the Bilt Blue Card at $0, the Bilt Obsidian Card at $95 and the Bilt Palladium Card at $495. All three earn up to 1.25X Bilt Points on rent and mortgage payments made through Bilt. None of them charges a foreign transaction fee.

Card

Annual fee

Everyday earning

Bilt Blue

$0

1X on everyday purchases

Bilt Obsidian

$95

3X dining or grocery, 2X other travel, 1X elsewhere

Bilt Palladium

$495

2X on everyday purchases

The rates come from Bilt's card comparison page. Palladium also earns 4X on hotels and 3X on flights booked through Bilt Travel, 4X on Lyft and up to 5X at Bilt partner restaurants.

Most coverage treats Palladium as the card for people with expensive rent. I think it works as the base of a whole card strategy, and the 2X rate is the reason.

Why does 2X Bilt Points on everything matter?

The Bilt Palladium Card earns 2 Bilt Points per dollar on everyday purchases, with no category to track. A 2% cash back card pays $2 on $100 of spending. Palladium pays 200 points on the same $100, and those points move 1:1 to airline and hotel programs where a point is often worth more than a cent.

Take $50,000 a year of spending outside any bonus category. At 2X, you earn 100,000 Bilt Points.

You pick the program after you know the trip. No single airline or bank travel portal holds your points.

Our guide to what points and miles are worth in 2026 shows how to compare a point against a cent.

Which transfer partners does Bilt have?

Bilt Rewards lists 25 transfer partners as of September 2026: 18 airline programs and 7 hotel programs. Every airline partner transfers at 1:1. World of Hyatt, Hilton Honors, Marriott Bonvoy, IHG One Rewards and Wyndham Rewards also transfer at 1:1. Accor Live Limitless transfers at 3:2, and I Prefer Hotel Rewards at 1:2.

The 18 airline programs:

  • United MileagePlus, Southwest Rapid Rewards, Atmos Rewards (Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines) and Air Canada Aeroplan

  • Air France-KLM Flying Blue, Virgin Atlantic Flying Club, Virgin Red and Turkish Airlines Miles&Smiles

  • British Airways, Iberia Plus, Aer Lingus AerClub and Qatar Airways Privilege Club, all of which use Avios

  • Japan Airlines, Cathay Pacific, Emirates Skywards, Etihad Airways, Avianca LifeMiles and TAP Miles&Go

The full list sits on Bilt's transfer partner page. The minimum transfer is 2,000 points at Blue status and 1,000 points at Silver and above.

For me, World of Hyatt is the most important name on the list. Few transferable currencies reach Hyatt at all. Chase is cutting its Hyatt transfer rate to 4:3 on October 1 for the Sapphire Preferred and the Ink Business Preferred. Bilt still transfers to Hyatt at 1:1.

Chase has Hyatt and United. Amex has a long airline list. Capital One and Citi each have useful international programs. Bilt puts Hyatt, United, Atmos Rewards, Aeroplan, Flying Blue and Japan Airlines in one account.

How does Bilt pay points on rent and a mortgage?

Bilt pays points on rent and mortgage payments made through its own payment system, and it charges no transaction fee on them. Bilt's card page says: "Make housing payments with no transaction fee through Bilt, always. With your Bilt Card, if your rent is $2,000, you'll pay $2,000."

A $4,000 mortgage paid from a checking account earns zero points. Paying it directly with a credit card usually adds a convenience fee larger than the rewards. Bilt removes the fee, and no other major rewards program does the same for housing.

The 2026 program gives you two ways to earn on housing, and you pick one.

Option 1: Housing-only rewards

Your housing earning rate depends on how much everyday spending you put on the card, measured against the housing payment.

Everyday card spend

Housing earning rate

At least 25% of the housing payment

0.5X

At least 50%

0.75X

At least 75%

1X

100% or more

1.25X

Below 25%, you get a flat 250 points for the payment.

On a $4,000 mortgage, you need about $1,000 of monthly card spending for 0.5X, $2,000 for 0.75X, $3,000 for 1X and $4,000 for 1.25X. At the top tier, the mortgage earns 5,000 points a month, or 60,000 a year.

The spending behind your tier also earns 2X on Palladium. You are not moving purchases to a weak card to qualify.

Option 2: Flexible Bilt Cash

The second option pays 4% back in Bilt Cash on everyday spending. Every $30 of Bilt Cash you redeem on housing earns 1,000 Bilt Points, up to 1X of the monthly payment.

On the same $4,000 mortgage, 1X is 4,000 points, which costs $120 of Bilt Cash. You earn $120 from $3,000 of card spending. This option stops at 1X, against 1.25X in Option 1, and the trade is leftover Bilt Cash to use elsewhere. Bilt's Bilt Cash page lists the other uses, from Lyft credits to hotel bookings.

You now manage two currencies, Bilt Points and Bilt Cash. I count this as the biggest weakness of the new program.

What is the Bilt Point Accelerator?

The Bilt Point Accelerator lets Bilt Palladium and Bilt Obsidian cardholders redeem $200 of Bilt Cash for 1 extra point per dollar on the next $5,000 of everyday spending. On Palladium, 2X becomes 3X. Bilt allows five activations a year, which covers $25,000 of spending. The accelerator requires the Flexible Bilt Cash option, and each activation ends at $5,000 of spending or at year end.

Do the math before you use it. One activation turns $200 of Bilt Cash into 5,000 points, which is 4 cents of Bilt Cash per point. The housing redemption turns $30 into 1,000 points, which is 3 cents per point.

Fill the housing redemption first. Spend leftover Bilt Cash on the accelerator.

Do the credits cover the $495 annual fee?

The Bilt Palladium Card's two recurring credits total $600 against a $495 annual fee.

The card has:

  • A $400 Bilt Travel hotel credit, paid as two $200 statement credits a year on Bilt Travel hotel bookings of two nights or more

  • $200 of Bilt Cash each year, with up to $100 rolling into the next calendar year

  • Priority Pass membership with access to 1,300+ airport lounges, which Bilt values at $469 a year

  • Trip cancellation and interruption protection, trip delay reimbursement, baggage insurance and extended warranty

  • No foreign transaction fees

A restricted credit is worth face value only if you would have made the purchase anyway. If you already book a few two-night hotel stays a year, the $400 is easy to use. If you rarely book through a portal, count it at less.

The terms are on Bilt's Palladium page.

What is the Bilt Palladium welcome offer?

The Bilt Palladium Card offers 50,000 Bilt Points and Bilt Gold status after $4,000 of non-housing purchases in the first 90 days, plus $300 of Bilt Cash at approval. This is the public offer as of September 20, 2026. Check the application page before you apply, since offers change.

The bonus is a small part of my case. A card has to pay for itself in year two and year three, and Palladium's earning structure does.

Apply through my Bilt referral link. I earn a referral bonus if you are approved.

Why pair Bilt Palladium with Bilt Obsidian?

A couple holding one Bilt Palladium Card and one Bilt Obsidian Card earns 2X on everyday spending and 3X on groceries or dining, with both cards earning the same Bilt Points. Combined annual fees are $590. The two cards return $500 in Bilt Travel hotel credits and $200 in Bilt Cash, or $700 in nominal credits.

Player one carries Palladium for general spending, large purchases, Lyft and Bilt Travel. Player two carries the Bilt Obsidian Card and picks 3X on dining or 3X on groceries. The grocery bonus stops at $25,000 a year.

Obsidian fills the one gap in Palladium's flat 2X. I lean toward groceries for most households, since plenty of other cards already pay a bonus on dining.

The setup takes more planning than two applications. I cover which player pays the housing bill, which category to pick and how to split spending in the follow-up post: Bilt Palladium + Obsidian: The Ultimate Two-Player Credit Card Strategy.

How does Palladium compare with the Sapphire Reserve, Amex Platinum and Venture X?

The Bilt Palladium Card competes on earning. The Chase Sapphire Reserve at $795 and the American Express Platinum Card at $895 compete on travel perks and lifestyle credits. The Capital One Venture X matches Palladium's 2X rate, but its miles do not transfer to Hyatt or United, and it pays nothing on rent.

Take a household with a $4,000 mortgage and $5,000 a month of card spending. The $60,000 of yearly card spending earns 120,000 Bilt Points at 2X. The $48,000 of mortgage payments earns 60,000 more at 1.25X, since card spending exceeds the housing payment.

The total is 180,000 transferable points a year from one card. I know of no other single card producing as many from the same bills.

Our best travel credit cards of 2026 guide ranks Palladium against the full field.

Where is the Bilt Palladium Card weak?

The Bilt Palladium Card has four real weaknesses, and the first one matters most.

  • The housing system is complicated. The original Bilt card asked you to use it a few times a month. The new one asks you to manage spending ratios, Bilt Cash or both.

  • The $400 hotel credit only works on Bilt Travel bookings of two nights or more.

  • Bilt Cash expires on December 31 each year, and only $100 rolls over.

  • 2X loses to a 4X or 5X category card on any single purchase. Someone running ten specialized cards will out-earn Palladium in many categories.

Who should get the Bilt Palladium Card, and who should skip it?

The Bilt Palladium Card fits you if you pay substantial rent or a mortgage, travel a few times a year and use airline and hotel transfer partners, or want to learn how. It fits best if you value World of Hyatt and put a lot of spending outside bonus categories.

Skip it if you:

  • Prefer cash back

  • Rarely book hotels and would waste the $400 credit

  • Do not want to manage two reward currencies

  • Carry a balance. Bilt lists a variable purchase APR of 26.74% to 34.74% after the intro period, and interest at those rates erases any points you earn.

The Bottom Line

Bilt connected housing payments, everyday spending and transferable travel points, which other issuers keep separate. Palladium earns 2X on ordinary purchases and up to 1.25X on a rent or mortgage payment, and it sends all of those points to 25 airline and hotel programs.

For a couple, Obsidian adds 3X on groceries or dining for $95 more. Read the two-player strategy next.

FAQ

Is the Bilt Palladium Card worth the $495 annual fee?

The Bilt Palladium Card is worth $495 a year if you use the $400 Bilt Travel hotel credit and the $200 of annual Bilt Cash, which total $600. It also earns 2X on everyday purchases and includes Priority Pass. If you would not book two-night hotel stays through Bilt Travel, the fee is hard to justify.

Does Bilt charge a fee to pay rent or a mortgage?

Bilt charges no transaction fee on rent or mortgage payments made through Bilt with a Bilt card. The Bilt Blue, Bilt Obsidian and Bilt Palladium cards all earn up to 1.25X points on those payments. The rate depends on how much everyday spending you put on the card.

How many transfer partners does Bilt have?

Bilt Rewards has 25 transfer partners as of September 2026, made up of 18 airline programs and 7 hotel programs. Most transfer at 1:1, including World of Hyatt, United MileagePlus and Air Canada Aeroplan. Accor Live Limitless transfers at 3:2 and I Prefer Hotel Rewards at 1:2.

Does Bilt Palladium earn 3X on everything?

The Bilt Palladium Card earns 3X on everyday spending only while a Point Accelerator is active. Each activation costs $200 of Bilt Cash and covers the next $5,000 of spending. Bilt allows five activations a year, so the 3X rate reaches $25,000 of annual spending at most.

Who issues the Bilt Palladium Card?

Column N.A., Member FDIC, issues the Bilt Palladium Card, and Cardless services it.

Card terms, welcome offers, transfer partners and Bilt program rules change. Verify current terms with Bilt before applying. Fact-checked against Bilt's card and support pages on September 20, 2026. This review assumes you pay your balance in full and use the card for spending you would make anyway.
