Turkish Airlines Miles&Smiles has no published status match page, and it has been quietly matching travelers anyway. The tier to aim for is Elite, because Elite carries Star Alliance Gold across more than two dozen airlines. Matched status starts as a four-month trial, and two extensions stretch it to two years.

Why does Turkish Elite status matter for a U.S. traveler?
Turkish Airlines Miles&Smiles Elite confers Star Alliance Gold, and Star Alliance Gold is the currency that opens lounges across United, Air Canada, Lufthansa, Swiss, ANA and the rest of the alliance. Star Alliance states the rule directly: a Gold customer has "access to any member airline lounge that displays the Star Alliance Gold logo." You show a boarding pass for a Star Alliance flight leaving that airport and bring up to one guest.
The sharpest edge is domestic. United MileagePlus Premier Gold members reach United Clubs in the U.S. only when departing on an international Star Alliance flight. Gold earned through a different program, Turkish included, is not bound by that restriction the same way. Two people with the same alliance tier, different lounge doors.
How do you request a Turkish Airlines status match?
There is no application form for a Turkish Airlines Miles&Smiles status match, so the request travels through an ordinary customer service channel. Create a Miles&Smiles account first, sign in, then open the Turkish Airlines feedback form, pick "Miles&Smiles program" and then "Other." Write a short note naming the program and tier you hold and asking for a match. Keep it to a few sentences.
Recent applicants report being asked for three things: a physical or digital elite membership card, a statement or screenshot of flight activity covering roughly the last two months, and the photo page of a passport. Some were asked to show activity in the Miles&Smiles account before approval landed. Replies have come back within hours for some people and several days for others.
What gets a match declined?
The Turkish Airlines match compares your existing tier against Elite, and the equivalence has to hold. Oneworld Sapphire has been rejected as not equivalent to Star Alliance Gold. Oneworld Emerald from American AAdvantage Platinum Pro has gone through, though it took back-and-forth because American stopped issuing physical membership cards and the proof was harder to produce.

How long does matched status last?
Matched Elite status on Turkish Airlines Miles&Smiles arrives as a four-month trial. Take one international Turkish Airlines flight inside that window and credit it to Miles&Smiles, and the trial extends by eight months for a full year of Elite. Earn 15,000 Status Miles on Turkish-operated flights during that year and it extends another twelve months. Partner flights do not count toward the 15,000.
Fifteen thousand Status Miles sounds steep until you look at a connecting long-haul itinerary in a paid premium cabin. One or two international round trips on Turkish gets most people there.
What this means for you
This is worth doing if you already hold real elite status somewhere and you fly Star Alliance metal, especially United, more than a couple of times a year. The request costs nothing except the paperwork. Four months of Star Alliance Gold buys lounge access, priority boarding and free checked bags on airlines you were flying anyway.
Skip it if you have no plan to fly Turkish internationally. The trial expires at four months and the extension requires a Turkish-operated flight, so a match with no follow-through is a short holiday from the back of the line.
