Marriott Will Pay 8 Points Per Dollar at Restaurants Through October 31

Eat Around Town by Marriott Bonvoy is paying 8 points per dollar on dine-in and takeout through October 31, 2026. More than 20,000 U.S. restaurants take part. New members earn 6,000 bonus points on top, spread across three qualifying meals in their first 60 days.

The short version

  • 8 Marriott Bonvoy points per dollar, October 1 to October 31, 2026.

  • Over 20,000 participating restaurants across the United States.

  • New members earn 1,000 points on the first qualifying dine, 2,000 on the second and 3,000 on the third, for 6,000 total.

  • Each qualifying dine requires $30 or more on a single order.

  • Enrollment is free and the program runs off a card you register once.

How does Eat Around Town work?

Eat Around Town by Marriott Bonvoy is a dining rewards network, not a booking site. You enroll with your Marriott Bonvoy number, register a credit or debit card, then eat at a participating restaurant and pay with the card you registered. The points post on their own a few days later. No code, no app at the table, no telling the server anything.

The restaurant list is the part worth checking before you commit. Enter your location on the official Eat Around Town site and it shows what qualifies near you. Coverage is strong in large metros and patchy outside them.

What does 8X get you on a real bill?

Do the math on a real dinner. A $120 restaurant bill at 8 points per dollar is 960 Marriott Bonvoy points. Marriott points are commonly valued around 0.7 cents each, which puts that dinner at roughly $6.70 of value. A $40 lunch returns 320 points, or about $2.20.

That is a modest return, and it is worth saying plainly. The reason to enroll is not the rate. The reason is that enrollment costs nothing and the points arrive on spending you were doing regardless. Treat it as a rebate you set up once, not a reason to eat out more.

Is the 6,000-point new member bonus worth chasing?

For a new Eat Around Town member, yes, because the bonus is where the real money sits. Marriott pays 1,000 points after the first qualifying dine, 2,000 after the second and 3,000 after the third, within 60 days of joining. Marriott's terms set the bar for each one at "$30 or more on a single dine-in or takeout order."

Three $30 meals produce 6,000 bonus points plus 720 base points from the 8X rate. At 0.7 cents a point, that is about $47 for meals totaling $90. That ratio does not come around often in hotel promotions.

Does this stack with your credit card rewards?

It does, and the stack is the point. Eat Around Town by Marriott Bonvoy pays through the Marriott program, while your card earns separately on the same charge. Pay a $120 dinner with a card earning 4 points per dollar on dining and you collect 480 card points alongside 960 Marriott points.

Register a card you already use at restaurants rather than one you keep for a single category. The whole benefit depends on the registered card being the one that comes out of your wallet. Our guide to what points and miles are worth covers how to compare the two currencies you are now earning at once.

What this means for you

Enroll if you are new to the program. The 6,000-point bonus is worth the ten minutes, and the 60-day window gives you room to hit three $30 meals without forcing it.

Existing members have a smaller decision. The 8X rate runs through October 31, so a meal out this month earns more than the same meal in November. Check whether the restaurant you were already planning to visit is on the list, and skip the rest.

Nobody should pick a restaurant because of this. Marriott points at 0.7 cents do not cover the gap between a place you want to eat and a place that happens to be enrolled. Choosing cards for dining spend is the bigger lever, and our best travel credit cards guide covers the ones paying the most on restaurants.
