What is IHG discounting?
IHG One Rewards is cutting the number of points a Reward Night costs, not the cash rate. The discount applies at IHG properties worldwide, covering Holiday Inn, Crowne Plaza, Kimpton, InterContinental, Hotel Indigo and the rest of the portfolio. Nothing changes about the room, the cancellation policy or elite benefits. You hand over fewer points for the same night.
IHG's own app banner spells out the window for cardholders: "enjoy a 15% discount on Reward Nights! Book by September 21, 2026 for stays from September 16 to November 2, 2026."
One oddity is worth flagging. Frequent Miler reported IHG issued no press release ahead of this sale, so the dates above come from the in-app banner rather than a published promotion page.
Who sees the 15% right now?
The IHG One Rewards discount is showing first for holders of an IHG co-brand credit card from Chase. That includes the IHG One Rewards Premier, the IHG One Rewards Traveler, the business version, and the old IHG Select card that Chase no longer offers to new applicants. You have to be logged in to your IHG account to see the lower price, because the discount does not appear on a signed-out award search.
Platinum Elite and Diamond Elite members without a card have gained access two days later in past rounds of this sale, a pattern LoyaltyLobby also flagged when the sale surfaced. If IHG repeats it, status holders start seeing the discount around September 18 and get roughly five days to book. IHG has confirmed no date for them.

What does 15% off save you?
An IHG One Rewards discount scales with the price of the room, so it pays most on expensive award nights. A 20,000-point night becomes 17,000. A 40,000-point night becomes 34,000. A 70,000-point InterContinental night becomes 59,500. The saving runs from 3,000 to 10,500 points a night.
Put a value on those points and the picture sharpens. IHG points are among the weaker hotel currencies, worth roughly 0.5 to 0.6 cents each on a good redemption, which is about where AwardWallet's IHG program guide lands. At 0.5 cents, the 6,000 points you keep on a 40,000-point night is about $30. Real money, and no reason to book a trip you were not taking.

Does it stack with the fourth night free?
Not in past rounds, and this is the catch. IHG's earlier 15% award sales were capped at stays of one to three nights, which put them out of reach of the fourth night free benefit that comes with the IHG One Rewards Premier and Traveler cards. A four-night stay is what triggers that benefit, and a three-night cap blocks it.
This round looks less settled. One cardholder testing the app found the calendar allowing up to 14 nights at the discounted rate, so the three-night cap might not be in force. Price a four-night stay both ways before booking, since the fourth night free beats 15% off three nights in almost every case.
The group this sale quietly rescues
Holders of the old IHG Select card get the most out of this. That card's anniversary free night certificate covers a room costing up to 40,000 points and, unlike the certificates on the Premier and Traveler cards, it cannot be topped up with extra points. A 44,000-point room is unbookable with it.
With 15% off, a room normally priced at 47,000 points falls to 39,950. Your capped certificate now covers it. If one of those certificates is sitting unused because everything good priced above the cap, go looking this week.
What this means for you
Book if an IHG stay already sat in the window. Rebooking an existing award reservation at the lower price works too, and one traveler recovered about 7,000 points doing it on a three-night stay in Georgia. Cancel and rebook rather than waiting for the system to reprice.
Skip it if no IHG stay was on your calendar before September 22. A 15% discount on points you would rather keep is not a deal.
