Finnair Plus is selling Avios at up to 50% off from November 2 through November 16, 2026. At the top tier, that works out to about 1.09 U.S. cents per Avios, down from roughly 1.45 cents in the Finnair sale that ended October 5. Only members who joined Finnair Plus before October 30, 2026 qualify.

The deal

  • Offer: a discount of 30%, 35%, 40% or 50% off the normal price, depending on how many Avios you buy. The full 50% starts at 85,000 Avios.
  • Price: about 1.09 U.S. cents per Avios at 50% off. Finnair shows prices only after you log in, so this comes from the 2.17-cent U.S. dollar base price One Mile at a Time reports, and it matches the 1.09 cents AwardWallet lists.
  • Tier points: every purchase also earns tier points equal to 10% of the Avios you buy, which count toward Finnair Plus elite status.
  • Dates: November 2 at 00:00:01 to November 16 at 23:59:59, Finnish time (UTC+2). That’s 1:59 p.m. Pacific on November 16.
  • Who qualifies: members who joined before October 30, 2026 and hold at least 50 Avios.
  • Direct link: the Finnair buy Avios page, which leads to the Finnair shop.

Key terms

  • Discount, not bonus: both Finnair pages call this “up to a 50% discount,” so you pay less for each Avios instead of getting extra Avios. Upgraded Points describes a 50% bonus and prices it near 1.45 cents, the math from September’s bonus sale.
  • Limit: Finnair says, “For this offer, the annual buy limit is reset, allowing members to purchase up to 200,000 Avios.” That holds even if you bought Avios earlier in 2026.
  • Status: Finnair says, “Tier points earned from the offer are not considered tier points earned from Finnair flights.” They won’t count toward the flight requirement for Platinum Lumo.
  • Gifts: the discount doesn’t apply to Avios bought as a gift.

What each tier costs

These prices use the 2.17-cent base price. AwardWallet’s figures run higher on smaller purchases, so check your own logged-in price.

You buy Discount U.S. cents per Avios Example cost
5,000 to 19,000 30% 1.52 10,000 Avios for about $152
20,000 to 49,000 35% 1.41 30,000 Avios for about $423
50,000 to 84,000 40% 1.30 70,000 Avios for about $911
85,000 to 200,000 50% 1.09 85,000 Avios for about $922

At these prices, 85,000 Avios cost about $11 more than 70,000 Avios, for 15,000 extra Avios.

One Mile at a Time notes that paying in Japanese yen brings the top price to about 1.06 cents. Its tracker shows Finnair’s 2026 sales at 1.27 to 1.41 cents before this one, so 1.09 cents is the cheapest Finnair price on its list this year.

Where Finnair Avios go

Avios is one currency shared by Finnair Plus, British Airways Club, Iberia Plus, Aer Lingus AerClub and Qatar Airways Privilege Club. Finnair Avios move to British Airways at 1:1, and from there to the other programs. If you belong to more than one, Finnair’s buy page says, “You can link your accounts and transfer Avios between them.”

Finnair says you can use Avios “to book award flights with Finnair or our oneworld partner airlines,” per its Avios page. Two uses stand out for buyers:

  • Short American and Alaska flights through British Airways: BA prices partner awards by distance. Since December 15, 2025, an American or Alaska economy flight up to 650 miles costs 13,500 Avios, and 651 to 1,151 miles costs 18,000 Avios, per The Points Guy.
  • Qatar Qsuites: Qatar’s business class between North America and Doha runs about 70,000 Avios one way on off-peak dates, per Award Travel Finder’s chart.

Our take

Our advice is to buy only for a seat you’ve already found. Our points valuation guide puts most airline miles at 1 to 1.5 cents each, so 1.09 cents sits at the low end. The award should be worth far more than the cash you spend.

The Qsuites math works well. Buy 85,000 Avios for about $922, book one Doha seat at 70,000 Avios, and keep 15,000 for a short American Airlines flight at 13,500 Avios. If that Qsuites seat sells for $3,000 in cash, those 70,000 Avios get you about 4.3 cents each, roughly four times what you paid.

Short flights are a closer call. Buying 14,000 Avios at the 30% tier costs about $213 for a 13,500-Avios American flight. It pays off only when the cash fare runs well above $213, such as on a last-minute trip.

Find the seat before you pay Finnair. A search tool such as seats.aero shows saver space on American and Alaska, and British Airways usually sells those same seats for Avios. Confirm the Avios price on BA before you buy. Our Avios award calendar guide shows a month at once.

If you hold Chase Ultimate Rewards points from a card such as the Chase Sapphire Preferred, compare this sale with Chase’s 30% Avios transfer bonus through December 1. Under the bonus, 1,000 Chase points become 1,300 Avios, so each Avios costs 0.77 Chase points. At the 2.05 cents our valuation guide gives Chase points, that’s about 1.58 cents per Avios. Finnair’s 1.09 cents is cheaper on paper, but a transfer costs you no cash, and points left in Chase can still go to Hyatt or United later.

Skip the sale if you joined Finnair Plus on or after October 30, or have no trip in mind. British Airways raised its Avios prices in December 2025, and Avios you buy today lose value at the next increase. Our buy points coverage flags the next sale.

FAQ

When does the Finnair Avios sale end?

November 16, 2026 at 23:59:59 Finnish time (UTC+2), which is 1:59 p.m. Pacific. It started November 2.

How much do Avios cost in this Finnair sale?

About 1.09 U.S. cents each at 50% off, which starts at 85,000 Avios. The 30%, 35% and 40% tiers cost about 1.52, 1.41 and 1.30 cents.

Is this a 50% bonus or a 50% discount?

A discount. Finnair’s pages say “up to a 50% discount,” which lowers the price of each Avios. A 50% bonus on the same base price would cost about 1.45 cents per Avios.

Is buying Finnair Avios cheaper than transferring Chase points?

On paper, yes. At 2.05 cents per Chase point, the 30% Chase bonus prices Avios at about 1.58 cents, against about 1.09 cents in this sale. A transfer costs no cash, though.
