A targeted Amex Offer pays up to 20,000 Hilton Honors bonus points on room charges at participating Hilton hotels, and the amount varies from person to person. The best version pays 20,000 points after $200, worth roughly $100 at about half a cent per point. Add it to your card first, book directly with Hilton, and pay for the stay between October 12 and December 31, 2026.

The deal

  • Offer: up to 20,000 Hilton Honors bonus points. The top version pays 20,000 points after $200 or more in one or more purchases, per the offer text Doctor of Credit published.
  • Other versions: 15,000 bonus points after $400 showed up on a Hilton Surpass card we checked on October 12, and Travel on Points reported it too. Other spend and point combinations may exist, and some cardholders see no offer at all.
  • Dates: stays paid for from October 12 through December 31, 2026.
  • Cards: targeted American Express cards. Danny the Deal Guru found the 20,000-point version on a Hilton Honors Surpass card. The version depends on the cardholder, not the card type.
  • Where: participating Hilton hotels in the US and US territories, booked at Hilton.com, in the Hilton Honors app or by phone at 1-800-445-8667.
  • Direct link: none. It’s a targeted offer, so look in the Amex Offers list for each card in your Amex app or account.

Key terms

Amex Offer terms only show inside a cardholder’s account. We read them on a Surpass card that got the $400 version, and they match the 20,000-point terms that Danny the Deal Guru and Travel on Points reproduced, apart from the amounts.

  • Eligible spend: room rate and room charges only. Hilton gift cards don’t count.
  • Payment timing: the offer applies only to bookings paid for during the offer period, in US dollars.
  • Excluded rates: Advance Purchase, Save Now & Pay and non-refundable rates.
  • Excluded brands: Hilton Grand Vacations, AutoCamp and the Small Luxury Hotels (SLH) Collection.
  • Booking channel: direct with Hilton only. Online travel agencies and other third parties don’t qualify. If a third-party site is cheaper, Hilton’s price match rules now make you book direct first.
  • Enrollment: limited. Add the offer to your card first, then pay with that same card. Cards issued outside the US aren’t eligible.
  • Limits: one bonus per card member, and corporate cards aren’t eligible. A canceled or past-due account may not get the points.
  • Posting: the points typically post within 30 days of the qualifying purchase. In rare cases they take up to 90 days after the offer ends, and Amex says to call the number on your card if nothing posts after 30 days.

Stacking with Hilton’s own promotions

Hilton runs two promotions this quarter that you can layer on top. The bigger one is for Hilton cardholders. Book a new stay of 3 or more nights by November 9, finish it by January 3, 2027, and Hilton pays 10,000 bonus points, per the cardholder promotion terms. You need to register before you book and pay in full with a Hilton Honors Amex card. Those terms say the bonus “Can be combined with: Amex Offers and other Hilton promotions.”

The second is More Points to Play, which we covered in our More Points to Play post. Register, then complete stays from October 15 through December 31 for 1,000 bonus points a stay, or 3,000 bonus points at Hilton’s luxury, lifestyle and resort hotels. AutoCamp and SLH hotels sit on Hilton’s lifestyle list, but they’re excluded from the Amex Offer, so skip them if you want both bonuses.

Your card adds its normal earning on top. The Surpass earns 12 points per $1 at Hilton hotels, the Aspire earns 14 points per $1, and the no-annual-fee Hilton Honors card earns 7 points per $1. Our Hilton Amex cards post compares the current welcome offers on all four cards.

Our take

We’d add this offer to every card that shows it. Our More Points to Play post values Hilton points at roughly half a cent each, so 20,000 points are worth about $100. On a $200 charge, that’s a 50% return before the stay earns anything else.

The full stack is where it gets large. Take a 3-night stay at an ordinary Hilton for $200 a night, booked direct on a flexible rate and paid with a Surpass card:

Source Points
Amex Offer, $200 version 20,000
Hilton cardholder 3-night bonus 10,000
More Points to Play 1,000
Surpass, 12 points per $1 on $600 7,200
Total 38,200

That’s 38,200 points, worth about $191 at half a cent, on a $600 stay, before Hilton’s base points for the stay itself. An Aspire card adds 1,200 points more at 14 points per $1.

The $400 version is a weaker deal. 15,000 points come to about $75, a 19% return on $400. The same 3-night stay still clears $400, so the stack drops to 33,200 points, about $166.

Watch the payment timing. Most Hilton stays charge your card at checkout, and the offer counts only payments made by December 31. We’d check out by December 29 to leave room for the charge to post. The prepaid rates that would charge you today are the ones the terms exclude.

Act if you see the offer and have any Hilton stay in the US before the end of the year. Skip it if your only Hilton plans are prepaid rates, SLH hotels or stays abroad. FAQ

Who gets the Amex Hilton offer?

It’s targeted, so the offer and its amount vary from person to person. Two Hilton Surpass cardholders saw different versions, 20,000 points for $200 and 15,000 points for $400. Check the Amex Offers list on each Amex card you hold.

Does an existing Hilton reservation count?

The terms don’t exclude existing reservations. What counts is that you pay $200 or more in room charges at a participating US hotel between October 12 and December 31, 2026, on a booking made directly with Hilton.

Do Advance Purchase rates qualify?

No. The offer excludes Advance Purchase, Save Now & Pay and non-refundable rates, so book a flexible rate.

Can I combine it with Hilton’s 10,000-point cardholder promotion?

Yes. Hilton’s cardholder promotion terms say it can be combined with Amex Offers. Register before you book, stay 3 or more nights, and finish the stay by January 3, 2027.

When do the bonus points post?

The Amex terms say they typically post within 30 days of the qualifying purchase. In rare cases they take up to 90 days after the offer ends on December 31, 2026.
