Citi ThankYou points transfer to Cathay Pacific Asia Miles with a 10% bonus through November 14, 2026, so 1,000 points become 1,100 Asia Miles. On a one-way Cathay business class seat from Los Angeles to Hong Kong, the bonus saves about 8,000 ThankYou points, worth roughly $152 at our valuation.

Ten percent is a small bonus by Citi’s standards, so it pays off only when you’ve already found the seat you want. Amex now charges more for the same miles, which makes Citi the cheaper bank for Cathay until the bonus ends.

  • Other banks: Capital One lists Asia Miles among its 1:1 airline partners, and Amex cut its rate to 5:4 on March 1, 2026, per Frequent Miler.

Los Angeles to Hong Kong in business for 83,000 Citi points

Cathay no longer publishes a full award chart. Australian Frequent Flyer’s May 2026 chart puts a one-way Cathay business class seat on a flight of 5,001 to 7,500 miles at 91,000 Asia Miles. Los Angeles to Hong Kong is about 7,250 miles, so it lands in that band. With the bonus, you’d transfer 83,000 ThankYou points (91,000 divided by 1.1 is 82,728, rounded up to the next 1,000) and get 91,300 Asia Miles.

The bonus saves you 8,000 ThankYou points, about $152 at the 1.9 cents per point in our points valuation guide. We priced this from the published chart on October 26, 2026, not from a live seat, and saver space on this route will likely be gone by the time you read this.

Look for space before you move a single point. A seats.aero search for Los Angeles to Hong Kong shows the Cathay seats released to partners such as American and Atmos Rewards, and Cathay’s own members see those seats too. Then confirm the price on Cathay’s Asia Miles site before you transfer.

Tip: Cathay keeps most of its business and first class award seats for Asia Miles members, so the Asia Miles booking tool often shows more seats than partner programs do.

Our take

We’d transfer only for a Cathay seat you’ve already found and priced. The bonus lifts a Citi point from 1 Asia Mile to 1.1 Asia Miles. On the Los Angeles example, that’s 8,000 points saved, about $152. If the seat disappears before you book, your points sit in Asia Miles with no plan for them.

The bonus matters most for Citi Strata Premier and Strata Elite cardholders who want Cathay’s own business or first class. Amex cardholders now pay 113,750 Membership Rewards points for the same 91,000 Asia Miles (91,000 divided by 0.8), so Citi is the cheaper bank for Cathay through November 14 by 30,750 points. Skip it if you hold only a no-fee Citi card. At 1:0.77, 1,000 points still buy fewer than 1,000 Asia Miles, and you’d do better to combine points onto a premium card first.

Citi’s bonuses to Japan Airlines at 30% and Avianca LifeMiles at 25% ran from September 20 to October 24, so this one is a third of the size.
