Aeroplan is selling points with up to a 90% bonus from October 14 through October 29, 2026, which works out to about 1.38 U.S. cents per point. It’s a big drop from the 1.85 cents in the sale ending October 13, though Aeroplan sold points cheaper in July and September. Buy only when you’ve already found the award seat and you’re short of points for it.

The deal

  • Offer: up to a 90% bonus on purchased Aeroplan points. The full 90% needs a purchase of 80,000 points or more, per Upgraded Points.
  • Price: about 1.38 U.S. cents per point at the 90% tier. The base price is CA$0.0375 a point, so 80,000 points cost CA$3,000 (about US$2,100) and arrive as 152,000.
  • Tiers: no bonus on 1,000 to 4,000 points, 50% on 5,000 to 29,000, 75% on 30,000 to 79,000, and 90% from 80,000.
  • Limit: 500,000 purchased points per transaction during the sale, up from the usual 250,000, so the most one purchase delivers is 950,000 points.
  • Dates: October 14 through October 29, 2026. The offers are targeted, so log in and check your own tiers.
  • Program: Air Canada’s Aeroplan. Sales are processed by Points.com, which the Aeroplan terms link to as the place to “purchase, gift or transfer Aeroplan Points.”

Key terms

  • Discretionary: the Aeroplan terms say Aeroplan “may, in its sole discretion, allow you, from time to time, to purchase, gift or transfer Aeroplan Points.” Treat every purchase as final.
  • Expiry: the same terms forfeit every point in an account with no earning or redeeming activity for 18 consecutive months. A purchase counts as activity, so the clock resets.
  • Card earning: Points.com bills the charge, so it won’t code as airfare on your credit card. It bills in Canadian dollars, so use a card with no foreign transaction fee.
  • Pooling: Aeroplan Family Sharing lets up to 8 family members pool points for free. Aeroplan says new Family Sharing accounts are temporarily unavailable, though existing pools still work.

What one purchase buys

Aeroplan prices awards on its Star Alliance partners with a fixed chart by distance. Its flight reward chart puts partner business class between North America and Europe at 60,000 points one way up to 4,000 miles. From 4,001 to 6,000 miles, the price is 75,000 points. Newark to Frankfurt on Lufthansa or United runs about 3,900 miles, so it sits in the 60,000-point band.

Purchase Bonus Points you get Cost U.S. cents per point
20,000 50% 30,000 CA$750 (about US$525) 1.75
35,000 75% 61,250 CA$1,313 (about US$919) 1.50
80,000 90% 152,000 CA$3,000 (about US$2,100) 1.38

The tiers punish small purchases. A one-way business seat needs 60,000 points, and buying exactly that much lands in the 75% tier at 1.50 cents. Two one-way business seats need 120,000 points, and the 80,000-point purchase covers them with 32,000 to spare, all at 1.38 cents.

Partner awards also carry a booking fee. Aeroplan’s redemption page says “there is a flat Partner Booking Fee of just $39 (per ticket)” on other airlines. The same page says it has “eliminated additional airline surcharges on any Air Canada flight you purchase with points,” so taxes are most of what’s left in cash.

How this sale compares

One Mile at a Time tracks Aeroplan’s sales, and this one is middle of the pack for 2026. A 110% bonus ran July 16 to 19 and a 100% bonus ran September 11 to 25. At the base price of CA$0.0375, a 100% bonus works out to about 1.31 U.S. cents and a 110% bonus to about 1.25 cents. The sale that ended October 13 sold points at 30% off, about 1.85 cents, which we covered in September.

So 1.38 cents is cheaper than two weeks ago, and roughly 5% more than September’s best price. Aeroplan runs a bonus sale every month or two, so nobody needs to stockpile at this price.

Our take

We’d buy only with a seat on screen. Find the award first: a search tool like seats.aero checks Aeroplan space alongside more than 20 other mileage programs, and the free plan covers the next 60 days. Our seats.aero guide walks through a search step by step.

Then run the math against the cash fare. Say a one-way Lufthansa business seat from Newark to Frankfurt costs $3,000 in cash. Buying 61,250 points for about $919, plus the $39 fee and taxes, saves you roughly $2,000. A $3,000 fare for 60,000 points is a redemption of about 5 cents per point, far above the 1.38 to 1.50 cents you paid.

The same trip in economy tells a different story. A partner economy award in the same band starts at 32,500 points. Bought at 1.50 cents, that’s about $488 of points plus taxes, and plenty of transatlantic economy fares sell for less than that in cash.

Transfers are usually the better source. Chase, Amex, Capital One and Bilt points all move to Aeroplan at 1:1, and Chase has run transfer bonuses to Aeroplan before. Our points valuation guide explains when spending those points beats paying cash. Spending points you already hold costs you nothing in cash, so buy only the shortfall after a transfer. If you’re short on transferable points altogether, a welcome offer from our best travel cards list gets you there more cheaply than this sale.

Skip it if you don’t have a trip in mind. Our buy points coverage flags the next sale, and Aeroplan’s own U.S. credit card is another route to a balance. Points sitting in an account lose value whenever Aeroplan changes its chart, and it updated that chart in June 2026.
