Chase Points Turn Into Marriott Points at 1:1.7 Until October 15. Most People Should Skip It.
Chase is paying a 70% bonus on Ultimate Rewards transfers to Marriott Bonvoy through October 15, 2026. Every 1,000 Chase points becomes 1,700 Marriott points. The bonus is worth taking on one specific Marriott stay priced above about 1.2 cents per Marriott point, and not otherwise.

Chase last ran a 70% Marriott bonus on November 30, 2025. It is the largest Chase has offered to Marriott since early 2021.
At a 0.7-cent Marriott valuation, 100,000 Chase points become $1,190 of Marriott points. Held as Chase points, they are worth about $2,000.
How does the Chase to Marriott transfer bonus work?
Chase Ultimate Rewards points transfer to Marriott Bonvoy at 1:1 on a normal day. Through October 15, 2026, Chase adds 70% on top, so 1,000 Ultimate Rewards points arrive as 1,700 Bonvoy points. The transfer needs a Chase Sapphire Preferred, a Chase Sapphire Reserve or an Ink Business Preferred, since those are the Chase cards with airline and hotel transfer partners.
Points move in blocks of 1,000. Upgraded Points notes the base transfer often finishes in under a day but takes up to 2 days. Frequent Miler reports the 70% bonus posts separately, up to 7 days after the base points arrive. Transfers are one way.
If your balance sits on a Chase Freedom Flex or an Ink Business Cash, combine it into one of the three transfer cards first. Chase allows this at no cost.
Why is 1:1.7 still a weak rate?
The Marriott Bonvoy program prices its points low. Upgraded Points values a Marriott Bonvoy point at 0.7 cents and a Chase Ultimate Rewards point at 2 cents. At those numbers, 100,000 Chase points worth $2,000 turn into 170,000 Marriott points worth $1,190. Frequent Miler runs the same math at 0.73 cents per Marriott point and gets 1.24 cents of value for each Chase point sent.
Compare the Hyatt option. Chase transfers to World of Hyatt at 1:1 with no bonus, and AwardWallet values a Hyatt point at 2.19 cents. A plain 1:1 transfer to Hyatt beats a 1:1.7 transfer to Marriott by a wide margin on most stays.
Do not route airline miles through Marriott either. Marriott converts points to miles at 3:1 with a 5,000-mile bonus for every 60,000 points moved. Send 100,000 Chase points to Marriott and you get 170,000 Bonvoy points, which become about 66,700 airline miles. Send the same 100,000 Chase points straight to United, Hyatt or Air Canada and you get 100,000.
When does the transfer pay off?
The Chase to Marriott Bonvoy bonus pays off on a single booking where the cash rate is high and the points price is not. Thrifty Traveler points to the Ritz-Carlton New York NoMad at 160,000 points a night against a $2,843 cash rate. That is 1.78 cents per Marriott point, or about 3 cents per Chase point after the bonus. Thrifty's other examples:
Lake Como EDITION: 110,500 points a night, cash rate above $1,400. About 65,000 Chase points with the bonus. Roughly 1.27 cents per Marriott point.
Aruba Marriott Resort: 72,000 points a night, cash rate near $800. About 43,000 Chase points with the bonus. Roughly 1.11 cents per Marriott point.
Le Méridien Maldives: 55,000 points a night, 221,000 points for five nights with the fifth night free. About 130,000 Chase points with the bonus.
The rule of thumb is simple. Divide the cash rate by the points price. Above 1.2 cents per Marriott point, the bonus beats holding Chase points at 2 cents. Below it, keep the Chase points.
Five-night stays tilt the math further. Marriott's program terms state that a member who redeems points for five consecutive nights under one reservation "will only need to redeem Points for four nights." The free night is the cheapest night of the stay. Free night certificates from a credit card do not count toward the five.
Should you transfer without a booking in mind?
No. Marriott Bonvoy prices award nights dynamically, so the points price of a room moves with its cash rate between the day you transfer and the day you book. A speculative transfer locks 2-cent Chase points into 0.7-cent Marriott points with nothing to show for it. The order matters because of the 7-day bonus delay:
Find the stay on marriott.com while logged in, so the fifth-night discount shows.
Divide the cash rate by the points price. Proceed only above 1.2 cents.
Transfer at least a week before you need to book, so the 70% bonus has posted.
Book the award. Marriott award stays are usually cancellable, so you keep an exit if plans change.
What this means for you
You have a five-night Marriott stay picked out at a property with a high cash rate: transfer, and do it before October 8 so the bonus posts in time. You are collecting Marriott points for a trip you have not planned: keep the Chase points, which are worth about three times as much per point. You want airline miles: transfer to the airline directly and skip Marriott.
